Veneers

Teeth that are chipped, worn, have unsightly spaces between them or are irregularly shaped can often be cosmetically improved with veneers. A dental veneer is a very thin shell of material made to fit precisely over the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are made from either tooth-coloured composite resin or from porcelain.

Composite Resin Veneers

Composite resin veneers are usually fabricated chairside, during a single appointment. A suitable shade is chosen by our dentist, and the material is applied directly to the tooth. Once applied, the material is hardened, shaped and polished to create a natural-looking lustre. Often little or no tooth preparation is required, and treatment is non-invasive and cost-effective.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are fabricated indirectly or outside your mouth. First, your teeth are prepared by removing a small amount of tooth enamel. This ensures your new veneers look and feel natural and aren't too bulky. Next, a detailed dental impression is taken of your teeth so your veneers can be custom-made in a dental laboratory. The veneers are fitted and bonded onto your teeth during your next appointment. Porcelain veneers are longer-lasting than composite resin veneers, and they will not stain or discolour, but they do cost a little more.
